Google Voice Hits The iPhone As A Webapp

The Google Voice webapp is built on HTML5, which allows it to operate basically like a native iPhone app would, except that it is incapable of accessing your iPhone’s address book. Google has a workaround for this, however, by syncing up with your Google account’s contact list instead of your iPhone’s. The webapp allows you to make calls, manage calls and forward them to other phones, listen to voicemail, manage settings, and send texts, all from your browser.
If you already have a Google Voice account, you can access the webapp via http://m.google.com/voice. Give it a try and tell us what you think.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 unveiled

Panasonic has introduced its altest member of the ZS-Series of digital cameras - the LUMIX DMC-ZS7. You will find that this model comes with the hallmark 25mm ultra-wide-angle Leica lens and a powerful 12x optical zoom which functions even in video recording mode, boasting integrated GPS (Global Positioning System) that enables geotagging capability so that you will be able to know just when and where you visited those wonderful places just in case your memory fails you in the future. Besides that, the LUMIX ZS7 also holds the distinction of being the world's smallest photo/video hybrid superzoom digital camera, capable of recording High Definition (HD) video thanks to its recording capability in AVCHD Lite. There is no word on pricing, but we do know that the Panasonic LUMIX ZS7 will come in silver, black, red and blue colors later this year. All in all, this is a mid-range consumer level digital camera that you might want to take a closer look at if you're in the market for one.

Belkin launches GPS-enabled TuneCast Auto Live FM transmitter for iPhone

Now, before you get too excited for the most advanced FM transmitter on the market, know that the TuneCast Auto Live costs $80. Compared to the $15 analog FM transmitter sitting in our glove compartment. It’s up to you whether the extra cost is worth it, but you definitely get more bang for your buck. It’ll also work with your iPod Touch, iPod Nano and iPod Classic. The iPhone app won’t work on the Nano or Classic, but you still get Belkin’s ClearScan Technology helping you find the best FM signal.

Corsair 2333MHz Dominator GTX Memory

Corsair just issued its latest 2333MHz Dominator GTX Memory that basically surpasses the previous king-of-the-hill - a 2,000MHz module from the guys at Corsair itself. It seems that individual modules of the new Dominator GTX memory was "hand screened" and tested just before it is shipped to end users, which means the added cost of that manual non-machine screening is added onto the final price point of $200 for each 2GB stick. At what point does the law of diminishing returns enter into play for high end computing equipment and peripherals? Sure, you might be able to cram out 1 more frame rate to hit 70fps while playing Crysis in high quality mode with all the bells and whistles turned on, but at what cost? Guess the boffins and scientists who need pure, unadulterated computing power to get their calculations in the fastest manner possible would benefit more from releases like this than hardcore gamers

Acer's new gaming PC will melt your brain and empty your wallet
Of course, you'll pay dearly for all that cutting-edge tech: $3,170. And that's just for Japan, where it's being released next month. Who knows how much it'd cost to ship over here. But come on, wouldn't it be totally worth it to see how Crysis would look on this thing?

GefenTV Wireless for HDMI unveiled

Gefen has unveiled its GefenTV Wireless for HDMI device which prides itself in being the first uncompressed method of full HD wireless connectivity as long as you remain within a 30 foot radius. This model will join the other three other wireless HDTV products from Gefen itself, although it will be able to tap into SiBEAM's chip which allows HDMI extension that supports full HD resolutions at 1080p. To put it plainly, the GefenTV Wireless for HDMI will enable an HDMI source to send its signals to an HDTV sans wires. Apart from that, it also plays nice with DVI and RS-232.

Samsung SL630 announced

Samsung adds yet another member to its popular SL Series of digital cameras in the form of the new SL630. This is a 12.2-megapixel shooter that comes with a pretty versatile 28mm wide-angle, 5x optical zoom lens to help you get the shots that you might not be able to achieve with your older generation point-and-shoot digital camera. Apart from that, Samsung has thrown in Dual Image Stabilization to further enhance your photo taking skill even under rougher conditions where keeping your hands steady is a challenge. To keep up with the Joneses, the SL630 also comes with video recording capability, although don't expect any High Definition support (not even 720p) to be included as all you'll be getting is standard definition

iPhone OS 4.0 Features Revealed

BGR posted a few minutes ago what they claim to be specific details of Apple’s iPhone OS 4.0 features.
While we recommend reading this with the usual skepticism, this feature list looks actually pretty realistic to me. Here is what they have:
- There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone)
- “A few new ways” to run applications in the background — multitasking.
- Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven’t had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc.
- The update will supposedly be available for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but will “put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers” more than any other phone to date. Everyone is “really excited.”
- The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications.

Adobe Launches An Acrobat.com Companion App

Adobe has just released a companion app for it’s online platform, acrobat.com.
It’s called Acrobat.com Mobile and it’s quite a nice utility actually. It lets you access files from your acrobat.com account on the go, create new ones from your camera (3GS only) and even send them to a fax of your choice.
The app itself is free and comes with 5 scans and 2 fax included. If you want more however, you can refill your account for a couple bucks through in-app purchases.
While it’s a little slow for now, it might very well save your life one day.

New iPhone to have a touch-sensitive back cover?

The Apple magic mouse is good use of touch tech on a gadget surface. And if rumors are to be believed the same is on its way to the iPhone 4G. Goldman Sachs analyst Robert Chen expects the iPhone 4G to have a touch-sensitive body like the Apple magic mouse. This would allow users to make gestures on the iPhone body instead of the touchscreen to control the device. This excites me for one simple reason that my fingers take up much of the beautiful 3.5″ iPhone screen when playing games. And such a technology would make it possible to keep the hands-off the display.
With the annual refresh date for the iPhone coming nearer the intensity of rumors are increasing. Over the past few weeks we have heard almost everything ranging from Apple tablets loaded with a projector to multicore processor on an Apple hand-held. As wild as the rumors can get, its always good to have a reality check: the rd gen 3GS still lacks a multitasking & a good camera with flash.

GV Mobile + (2.0) for iPhone Jailbreak Now on Cydia

First, it costs money. The developer has worked long and hard on GV Mobile + and since he can’t rely on the App Store for income, he has to get the Jailbreak community to support him. If you like GV Mobile +, please do.
Second, it has a ton of updates:
- Favorites
- New tab system for Contacts, Favorites, Keypad
- Landscape SMS
- Call & Add Contact from SMS main view
- International support for SMS (until Google blocks it)
- Call, Text, & Add Contact from History
- Voicemail transcriptions, new voicemail screen layout
- Call, Text, & Add Contact from Voicemail
- Local archiving of voicemail (doesn’t download every time)
- Offline dialing (via dialing GV #)
- Default Area code (for those that don’t need to dial the area code in you area)
- More data sync options (Interval, Startup, Startup on demand, manual)
- Multiple Accounts
- User selectable tab to open to
- More Google Settings : Do Not Disturb, Call Screening, Call Presentation
- The core of the updates reside in the back end programming of the app – completely rebuilt from ground up.
