Dell netbook to Dell phone mod!
![]() Before: Dell Inspiron Mini Netbook After: Giant Dell Mini 3i Here’s a pic (below) of the real Dell Mini 3i with OPhone OS– not a bad copy at all, although the mod seems to be slightly larger. ![]() Check out the video below to see how it was done. Not within the capability of your average user, and in fact getting Android to run on a netbook is no mean feat, but very cool nevertheless. ProSwitcher for Jailbreak Brings Safari Pages, webOS Cards-style Multitasking UI to iPhone
![]() A front end to Backgrounder, which enables multitasking on a Jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch, duplicates the “Pages” metaphor in MobileSafari, including swipe-able switching and X-icon closing, and for good measure adds in the swipe-up-to-close gesture from Palm’s webOS “Cards” interface. ProSwitcher is currently in free beta and available via Cydia at http://booleanmagic.com/repo. If you try it out, let us know how it works for you, and how badly you think Apple better add this in to iPhone 4.0! O2 to Acquire Israeli Startup Jajah for $200 Million

The Competition: Palm Launches Ares Beta, Browser-based webOS Development Environm
You can simply fire up your browser and go to http://ares.palm.com/, sign in with your developer account, and get coding.Apple’s iPhone SDK and IDE, evolved from the very mature Mac Xcode and Interface Builder, and the Cocoa Touch frameworks are often cited as reasons for the App Store’s success and the quality and consistency of some of the very best apps. So, providing Palm webOS developers with similar tools (and frameworks?) is smart. And how utterly appropriate for a platform ballsy enough to be webOS, programmed in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, to be ballsy enough to move their IDE to the cloud. How Palm keeps out-Googling Google in the mobile space is amazing.

Microsoft’s “Bing” hits the App store
![]() The iPhone version replicates pretty much the same interface as the website with a cool background image every day mostly of amazing places and things around the world. It also displays info about the elements shown in the image when the menu is hidden. ![]() This app is quite lethal and matches up with google’s iPhone app with voice search (even for addresses), maps, photos, addresses, results all with previews!! The maps have turn-by-turn directions with traffic information, local results like traffic, cinema listings, weather and local businesses. The best part is that the browser opens inside the app and results can be viewed within the app.

Newsy.com iPhone App Version 1.5 Released
![]() Version 1.5 of the app features a ‘Sources’ button that enables easy access to the specific news stories analyzed in a Newsy video – with just a click, users are seamlessly connected to story-level pages so they can further research the topics that matter most to them. Once a video completes playing, a ’Sources’ button appears next to the ‘Share’ and ‘Comment’ buttons. As with the first version of the app, user comments made via iPhones and iTouches are synced instantaneously with the Newsy.com website. Version 1.0 of the Newsy app, released in September 2009, quickly ascended the list of free news apps in the App Store. As mentioned above, it’s USP is the fact that it analyses news from various angles, aiming to help users understand the nuances in news coverage. [via intomobile]

Want To Take Videos But Don’t Have A 3GS? There Is An App For That
![]() Wow, Apple is definitely easing up on App Store rejections this Christmas. Only days after allowing a video streaming app, Apple just accepted an app that allows those of you with an iPhone 2G or 3G to take videos. The app, iVideoCamera, is very limited for now as it only takes 3 frames per second for no more than a minute. However the developers are working on improving it and we can only expect many more apps of this kind to hit the App Store soon. Here is the official description : The iVideoCamera lets your record a short video on any phone. Now you don’t need a 3GS to record and share videos with your friends and family. Works with any 2G or 3G phone with 3.1 OS installed and includes:It comes as a nice alternative to the jailbreak app cycorder, the quality might not be as good but the sharing features are very much welcome. Scandinavia gets world's first LTE network; U.S. still puttering at 3G
It's great to see LTE tech finally move out of the "buzzed about on the Internet and at trade shows" phase and into the "it's here" stage, though predictably it didn't happen in the U.S. (not exactly know for its innovative cellphone networks). It's not all bad news stateside, though: Sprint has been slowly but steadily expanding its 4G network, based on WiMax technology, and Verizon and AT&T have plans to deploy LTE networks next year and beyond. Maybe then we'll finally be able to use SlingPlayer for iPhone outside of a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Marvell prototype SSD is blazing fast
![]() Marvell's latest prototype SSD is capable of hitting some rather impressive benchmark results, even when going up against Intel's highly respected X25-M G2, where initial testing has pointed to a 33% increase in burst performance over what most people would consider to be one of the snappiest SSDs on the market today. Apart from that, Marvell's prototype also boasted of a 27% uptick in sustained read performance as well as a 175% increase over the SATA 6Gbps Seagate hard drive. One cannot yet guarantee that the 6Gbps SSD is going to rule the market when it comes out commercially, mainly due to the lack of a pricing indicator and just how many people are willing to make that jump to upgrade their next storage solution. Snowflake Sony DSC-TX1 spotted in Japan
![]() This winter, Sony is offering a snowflake-engraved version of its DSC-TX1 compact camera. The special edition will be available in Silver, Black and Pink. There's no surcharge for the engraving, but Sony will only do it for the holidays. I like the Silver version, it's cool and discrete, but I don't live in Japan... If you are not familiar with the DSC-TX1 ($329): it's a 10.2 Megapixel compact camera that has a 4X optical zoom and a Carl Zeiss lens. In the back there's a big 3" LCD touch display. There is a ton of features, but a few cool ones are: the 10fps burst mode, low-light capabilities (for a compact) and the 185 degree sweep panorama. If only Sony would switch to SDHC... fring Announces Video Calling, on iPhone and Symbian Phones

Samsung mass produces 30nm 3-bit MLC NAND chips
![]() Samsung has initiated volume production of industry’s first 3-bit multi-level-cell ( MLC) NAND flash chips using the 30nm process. The chips using the new process and 3-bit technology allows the NAND data storage to increase its efficiency by over 50 percent as compared to a 2-bit NAND chip. This 30nm 3-bit tech will be applied to NAND-based storage products like USB flash drives, microSD cards etc. Along with the 3-bit NAND controller, Samsung will develop an 8GB microSD card using this tech. Android 2.1 Screenshots Leak, HTC Sense On Board

We hear that HTC is hard at work preparing an update for their line of handsets that will catapult their Android Phones passed Android 1.6 and right back up to date with Android 2.0. But after the following screenshots of a supposed “Android 2.1″ leaked on BeGeek.fr, people are wondering if HTC is moving all the way to Flan in one single bound: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
